Andrew Heaney is the CEO of HeatingOil.com. He has over 15 years of experience in the heating oil industry as the head of the largest heating oil buying consortium in the United States, and is the third generation of his family in the heating oil industry.  Andrew is sorry to say he been around long enough to have been quoted by lots of people regarding heating oil, including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. He has also made several embarrassing appearances on CNN, Fox Business News and some others he won’t tell us about. He believes that HeatingOil.com presents a unique opportunity to help empower both consumers and heating oil dealers with the information and services it provides.  It also allows him to ‘blog’ which is something he has dreamed of since he was a boy.

Jennifer L. Schwartz (or, Jen) is a Boston-based freelance writer who swears that an urban bicycle commute is the most effective way to wake up and get focused in the morning.
She’s a regular contributor to The Boston Globe and Globe magazine. Her work has also appeared in Philadelphia magazine and on several websites, including her bicycle blog at Examiner.com. She covers topics such as trends, travel, science and food, and likes pursuing in-depth stories and human-interest angles.

After graduating from Boston University in 2008 with degrees in journalism and environmental science, Jen willingly chose the self-employed route, which turned out to be a great crutch against getting laid off when the economy crashed. It’s hard to lay yourself off.

During the ‘06-‘07 winter season, she unwittingly lived without heat in her old, drafty apartment. The furnace pilot light was out, but none of the roommates realized that at the time. Incidentally, this is a straightforward way to dramatically cut the costs of your heating oil bills.

steve-zweigSteven Zweig has spent 15 years in educational publishing, as writer, editor, executive, and entrepreneur, creating school books, educational software, and online lessons. He’s specialized in the content areas—science and social studies—and has created numerous educational materials explaining chemistry, physics, environmental science, economics, politics, and the interaction of human beings and their surroundings. He brings this experience with him to writing about energy for HeatingOil.com.

Steve has a B.S. from Cornell University and a J.D. from Cardozo School of Law. He practiced law at the New York Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he brought actions against individuals and companies violating the securities law. This has given him a keen interest in, and a regulator’s perspective on, the role of speculators in setting oil prices, as well as in the functioning of commodities markets more generally.

After leaving the SEC, Steve moved into educational publishing, first with Educational Design, then with its successor, Triumph Learning, where he rose to be the EVP/Publisher of a $50mm division of a $200mm company. Since 2005, he’s had his own educational publishing company, Comprehension Publishing (www.comprehensionpublishing.com) and has also been a business consultant and a business and legal writer.
